I have a ton of crafts that I have done lately, but lets be honest...I am not the best at blogging even though I try really hard. But I am here today with two crafts I just did! They were so easy too and I am excited to show them to you.

Craft #1: Re-Sizing your shoes

I love D.I. even though the one here in Provo isn't the greatest. You can always find something though and I discovered that on Monday's you can score a ton of great stuff!

Like these lovelies! Ready for this...they were $1! I know right!? I almost died cause I have wanted some more strappy sandals and these are perfect...but the straps had been stretched out. Soooo since I have a new sewing machine I thought I should take advantage of it. I figured I could re-size them somehow and I eventually figured it out. Here is how I did it so you can do it too!

I first decided that the best way to re-size them was to cut off one of the straps and re-sew it on the shoe in order to tighten it up = shoe will fit better :-) As you can see from the pic, I cut it off close to where it originally was sewn as to not loose to much fabric.

From there I refolded the fabric around to a length that felt comfortable and made the fit better, and sewed them together with the sewing machine.

And here is the finished product! They still look the same, but now they fit! This project literally took me 5 min. This is an easy way to fix your shoes that you love so much before sending them off to D.I. like these babies for someone like me to pick up for $1! Ahhhh!

Craft #2: Re-Fashioning a skirt

My cousin a while back gave me a bunch of stuff to give to D.I. and this skirt was apart of the bunch. It is not really my style but I thought that this would be a great project to re-fashion so I could actually wear it!

At first it was too long so I thought it would be great to add maybe a ruffle to the skirt to jazz it up. Also, the skirt was a little too big. As you can see from the pic, I went ahead and sewed straight down on each side to slim the skirt down. From there I cut the bottom of the skirt off in order to make a new ruffle out of the extra fabric.

From there, I hemmed up the bottom ruffle, and added it to the skirt. I didn't sew it on the bottom of the skirt, but rather about two inches or so above the bottom of the actual skirt in order to give it that ruffle look.

And there ya go! That was all it took in order to re-fashion the skirt in order to make it more my style! And I love it! For those who know me, I love wearing skirts so this is a great addition to my closet! Anyway happy Tuesday and tell me what you think! :-)

School just started so I have been a little busy since this is my last semester of college! Whoo hoo... but I always find time to craft around! I have really been into refashioning shirts lately and I had a cute shirt my mom gave me about a year ago...

It is super cute and all, but it was a little baggy, and I had to constantly roll the sleeves up...can you say annoying!? So needless to say, something had to be done :-)

So I decided to do a few things to the cute shirt...

First: I cut the sleeve hand sewed (I just barely got a sewing machiene...I could have totally saved myself the trouble, but it turned out okay right?) the edges. It is now a 3/4 sleeve and it is awesome!

Second: I added ruffles! So cute right!? I made the ruffles out of the extra material I cut off from the sleeves...

I also made the ruffles two different lengths. The middle ruffle is a little longer than the two on the side just to give it a little extra umf! I taked the ruffles on the front of each side just underneath the shoulder line.

This is how is looks like with both sides together...

...and this is what is looks like on! I think it turned out great and it is now more my style. Even Joel likes the shirt, which is amazing coming from him when sometimes he doesn't understand some of the things I wear!

Other then the shirt refashioning I have also been making scarfs to get ready for the snow :-( Sad that the summer is done, but excited to pull out the coats and to wear my new scarves! I this blue one I made because it is versatile. I love it, but this is a great example of something Joel does not like...but what do you think? I can't help it that I love the blue color, and silver fabric cuff I added to it...:-)

Also made this white ruffly one, maybe to wear with my red p-coat...

...or even with my new red stripe and lace scarf I crafted up. Which one is your favorite cause I love them all equally!

Anyway enough crafting and on to a new subject...Joel and I the other weekend went to "shoot the tube" in Sandy and it was so fun but we definately got some battle wounds. What is shooting the tube you ask? Well there is the huge open pipe in sandy in the middle of the mountains and it is about 200 yards long. You go with a group and sit in this tube in a slide formation. You place a board in front of the water flow so the pressure builds, eventually cracking the board in two. The water then rushes in, pushes your line of people down the slide, and then it spits you out into a pond at the bottem. It was so fun and scary but we got some boo boo's...

Joel cut his knee up from landing on some rocks which actually gave him bursitis! Ouch!

Joel also sprained his ankle, my friend Kristi (with Joel) sprained her knee, and both my friend Brian and I landed on rocks on our way down which created a huge welt on my bottom...so ya Joel and I didn't sleep that well that night...but it was so much fun!

Time for another DIY!

So this project I spotted off of another blog, I can't remember the name...but I just had to do it for myself! For those who have seen my apartment know that my kitchen is itsy bitsy small! So what ever I can do to dress it up I take advantage!

So needless to say I am excited to see this little project on my fridge! I also made these for my Mom and mother-in-law for mothers day and they loved them as well! So today's project is making a clothespin magnet with ruffles and it is such a great way to dress up your refrigerator or magnet board.

Lets get started...

1. Most importantly you need your supplies. I already had the fabric and white felt, and I chose to do some pink, white, and yellow lace to come up with different magnet combos. Then at the dollar store and Michaels I grabbed a pack of clothespins ($1), a pack of magnets ($2), and some flesh colored and pistachio colored paint (50 cents each) totaling my price to only $4 for all!

2. The second step is to your clothespins. For myn I used the flesh colored paint and for the rest I painted them the pistachio color. I also only painted the top because it makes the whole process faster and who looks at the back anyway?

3. Next I cut out the fabric. The circles are probably about 2-3 in. around.

4. Then you fold the flower in half...

Then in half again...

5. From there I took three of the circles that have been folded twice and combine them together. For myn I combined two white circles with a yellow lace circle in the middle. You can choose any combo really.

6. In order to make sure they stay together, just quickly stitch through the bottom of the combo a couple times and then tie it off to seal.

Eventually you will gather a little pile like such...

7. The next step brings in the felt. I cut little circles, about 1/2 in. around to sew the combos on. I sewed 3 fabric combos on each felt piece.

Eventually it looks like this! It is starting to come together...

8. From there you quickly dab a little hot glue on the end of each clothespins and press the bottom of the flower to seal.

9. Now for the magnet portion. This is the easiest part of the whole process because it required no hot glue gun or sewing. The magnet came in a sheet like shown below.

I cut it into strips into the same width as the clothespins...

...and then I removed the paper on the back of the magnet and pressed it to the back of the clothespin. So simple right?

10. Whala! Your ruffle flower is complete! Didn't they turn out so fabulous! I love them so much!

They even turned out great in pink!

DIY Ruffle black flat

So I found these lovely black flats at Wet Seal for about $5 and I was really excited! I have been wanting to do some type of shoe DIY and I thought this would be a perfect opportunity considering I have a ton of black fabric lying arouund! So here is how you can change your plain black flat.....

... into a fabulous ruffle black flat!

Step 1: Cut out two strips of fabric long enough to fit around the front edge of the shoe. I cut the strip 2x's the size I want the width to be so I could fold the strip in half and hand sew the edges shut. This was in order to make the strip thick enough.

Step 2: After that, I stitched a line at the top of both strip. Before sealing off the stitch, I pulled the thread through to scrunch up the piece a little. I then had some black beads that I added to the edge of each strip (gives the shoe some character :-) )

Step 3: One after the other, stitch the strip to the flat. I put the first strip about 1/2-3/4 inch away from the edge of the opening.

Step 4: Add the second strip on top of the first strip, right along the edge of the shoe. And whala! You have your fabulous refashioned black flat!

See how cute they are! I love them and I have already worn them today and have gotten compliments :-) So easy to do in just 4 steps!

Anniversary/Birthday=PARTY! :-)

So aaaalllooottt has been going on these past two months (march/april), and I am quite exhausted from it all! Haha, it has actually gotten me sick from all the stress and things going on. Example: The day before my birthday, I woke up with pink eye in both my eyes, so I had to resort to wearing glasses on my special day, stinks I know. And then on the first day of Spring semester, I woke up with a really bad cold. Lovely. Anyway, the good things about these months are:

1. Fall semester ended
2. Joel and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary
3. Joel's parents came down for General Conference
4. Joel got second place in a business competition for Golf Compete
5. We went to AZ for a short time to See Carly Jo and family
5. It was my birthday!

So there are a lot of pictures to show, so bare with me but enjoy too! :-) Lets start from the beginning of March...

What a great pic to start with! My friend Kristi and I wanted to exfoliate so we put on masks and somehow persuaded our husbands to do it too! You can tell Joel loved it...

Wow it has been a long time since I posted something on my blog...which is interesting for me to be posting right now since it is down to the last two days of finals, so I should be studying! Oh well, I was going through my pictures and thought it would be fun to post a few videos of Joel and I over the past few months to kinda show you what we have been up too!

New Blog! Yay!

Sooo this blog is definatly for emily and the girls who have been gettin on me for not blogging in for so long! I usually just love reading more than writing! haha anyway second semester has definatly been easier so far than last! Oh my goodness was last semester a trip! I took some of the hardest classes and I definatly was not prepared, which is why this semester I took it a little easier and signed up for my two hard classes with Joel, haha. But ya snow doesn't make life any easier as well! Me and Joel were so excited cause last week when my parents came down to utah for valentines weekend it was nice and warm, well utah warm in the winter time, and we were like "it all goes down hill from here!" And then the next week comes and it snows and is possibly the coldest week in utah yet! Ah! Utah weather is so trippy and unpredictable it drives me nuts! But we love being in Utah so that is the issue...Well jumping of my soap note cloud, valentines day and having my parents down in utah was such a breath of fresh air! I was so happy for them to be there and we had a lot of fun...we went to temple square and were determined to find Carly before heading off to dinner and we actually did! It was so good to see her and I got a little tear in my eye from seeing her. She has grown up so much and is just loving her mission. She also inspired me to try and write more often in this blog because she told me a really cool experience she while out there on her mish. I guess a girl I knew, found Carly's mission blog through my blog and decided to go on a mission because she was so touched by Carly's blog. I thought that was really cool and made me realize that I need to be better at keeping this updated because we never know what might happen. I am not saying that I am going to touch a bunch of peoples lives, but I hope that I can be better at this whole blog posting thing :-) Well after the weekend we took my parents to the plane to go home and me and Joel went to a Mexican restraunt in SLC called the Red Igauna. I guess it has gotten ranked as the best food in Utah for the past couple years and the show Diners Drive-in's and Dine came here so I surprised Joel with going to lunch there and a Pie from Marie Calanders for V-Day :-) Joel gave me some beautiful pillows for our bed, a cute organizer, ottoman and an iphone! Luv it! (Also I finally am putting up picks of the apartment :-/ sorry for taking so long) The food was AMAZING! Possibly better than anything I have had before which is weird cause it is in Utah and Utah is not recommended for good mexi food. But non the less those in Utah who love a good whole in the wall Mexican food experience, check this place out immediately! haha but ya life is great and me and Joel are just trying to get by as a little married couple but love every minute of it! Luv you all!

Yay For Utah!

So it has finally started snowing in Utah this week, and I have to say, we are ike 50% excited, and 50% not...:-I but not the less we are enjoying every minute being up here in such beautiful weather. So last week, me and Joel went on a little hike up the Provo Canyon and it was beautiful! The weather was so lovely and the sky was all grey because it was about to rain...but it made me mostly happy that we live in such a beautiful area, and how grateful I am for Heavenly Father giving me such and amazing earth to live on. I am in a Geology class this semester and I have been amazed at so many things we dont know about the creation and how things work on the earth. Did you know that Provo and Salt Lake used to be completely covered by a prehistoric lake called Lake Bonneville? All of the ground in Provo is sand, so the reason why the church has been doing so many building and temple renovations is because geologists predict that a huge wave will come in between provo canyon (probably near the 2nd coming) and will wipe everything out because our houses are built upon sand and not rock ( the foolish man built his house upon the sand....haha). But ya isnt that crazy? So when the wave comes run to a church building! :-) Anyway we are in debt to heavenly father for allowing us to come and live in this amazing life and I am so grateful for all of his creations....p.s. are the pictures beautiful of all the pretty leaves? I love fall!

The Joy's of Utahville...

Okaaaay okay so it has been a long time since updating so here we go! Me and Joel just moved up here to utah and things have definatly been crazy! So we havnt taken really any pictures because like i said things have been crazy! But ya we live in Wymount housing at BYU, which is like the married housing dorms! haha but they are actually quite nice if you get a good one and we did get a good one so we are happy with our place compared to most people who live here. So once I get the house all situated and hopefully more decorated, I will post some pics up of it! Other then that me Joel just started school and so far so good. My schedule has gotten screwed up as a result of teachers telling me and I need prereqs for the class which totally stinks and as teachers changing times of the classes! Ah! Joel on the other hand has had success with his classes, but he has some really hard ones...as for me my classes are not hard...yet :-S But my goel this semester is study harder for my classes this year than I have ever studied for anything before! I want straight A's with no but's or if's! But don't worry I still will have time to play around with friends! Which speaking of that me and Em have run into and hungout plenty of times so far with Joel and Cory of course! It is fun being able to see those two little love birds and talk to them about wedding plans! Oh the many memories...haha anyway Joel see's seriously maybe ten people a day that he knows walking around school and I get lucky if I see one! They are all mostly from his mission too which is funny...anywho preston left for his mission a while ago but this is his last week in the MTC and then it is off to El Salador from there! It is hard sometimes living in this complex becuase it is literally kitty corner to the MTC so I could literally sit by the temple and wait for him to walk by but you know I would not do that! I am excited for him though and from what he has written to me and Joel he is loving missionary life and speaking spanish expecially! He is good at it too! We are excited for him...but ya we love our ward, with all the small crying chillins haha and we love living in utah! It is the best! I will post pics up soon! :-) Cliss

Hello Ya'll!

So Texas so far has treated us really well and we actually have loved living here, minus the humidity! We love our apartment and our ward and our neighbors who are very nice. There is not really much to do out here other then go see a movie, go out to eat and shop so sometimes it get a little boring but we are always trying to find new things to go out and do! For example, we have really gotten into playing board games, mainly because we got a ton of them for wedding presents! Haha...also my mom flew in last weekend to spend time with me and Shirece (and Joel of course) because me and Shirece tried out for American Idol...I know I know American Idol is totally not for me but in order for me to be with Shirece I had to register. Sitting for 8 hours to wait my turn to sing was not fun, but being with my mom and sister was well worth it! Me and Joel also spent the 4th of july together watching some pretty amazing fireworks! 4th of july weekend! The fireworks were amazing and beautiful!

Anyway, I know there are a ton of pics but as you can see a lot of good things have happened to us in Texas and we are loving every min. of it! We miss everyone at home but know this is where we are suppossed to be right now so we are puting our whole hearts into it! :-) Cliss

Hmmm where do I even start! We have had so many fun things going on in our crazy lives right now that it is hard to put it all in one post! So I will try and give you the shortened versions of everything...:-) I would have put up our official wedding pics, but we have yet to get those so those will soon come!

So for our honeymoon we went to NYC NY! It was so fun, even though it did rain a bit...

While we were there we also got to see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway! It's our favorite.

And of course we saw the statue of liberty, you can't really see it, but Joel looks cute in the pic so I couldn't help myself!

David Letterman show! So fun!

We also got to go through the NY temple! It was beautiful...there were definatly alot more pictures then shown up above but hopefully you get the idea of how much fun we had!

Now moving on to Cali! Joel surprised me for my birthday with a trip to Disneyland with his family! He was so sneaky but we got to spend time with each other and his family so that was awesome!...oh and yes don't we look lovely??

So i guess after the sassy sista blog spot kinda failed...:-( I think it is time for me to join the clan and start my own blog!
