DIY Ruffle black flat

So I found these lovely black flats at Wet Seal for about $5 and I was really excited! I have been wanting to do some type of shoe DIY and I thought this would be a perfect opportunity considering I have a ton of black fabric lying arouund! So here is how you can change your plain black flat.....

... into a fabulous ruffle black flat!

Step 1: Cut out two strips of fabric long enough to fit around the front edge of the shoe. I cut the strip 2x's the size I want the width to be so I could fold the strip in half and hand sew the edges shut. This was in order to make the strip thick enough.

Step 2: After that, I stitched a line at the top of both strip. Before sealing off the stitch, I pulled the thread through to scrunch up the piece a little. I then had some black beads that I added to the edge of each strip (gives the shoe some character :-) )

Step 3: One after the other, stitch the strip to the flat. I put the first strip about 1/2-3/4 inch away from the edge of the opening.

Step 4: Add the second strip on top of the first strip, right along the edge of the shoe. And whala! You have your fabulous refashioned black flat!

See how cute they are! I love them and I have already worn them today and have gotten compliments :-) So easy to do in just 4 steps!

Happy Wednesday! Luv you all!

Anniversary/Birthday=PARTY! :-)

So aaaalllooottt has been going on these past two months (march/april), and I am quite exhausted from it all! Haha, it has actually gotten me sick from all the stress and things going on. Example: The day before my birthday, I woke up with pink eye in both my eyes, so I had to resort to wearing glasses on my special day, stinks I know. And then on the first day of Spring semester, I woke up with a really bad cold. Lovely. Anyway, the good things about these months are:

1. Fall semester ended
2. Joel and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary
3. Joel's parents came down for General Conference
4. Joel got second place in a business competition for Golf Compete
5. We went to AZ for a short time to See Carly Jo and family
5. It was my birthday!

So there are a lot of pictures to show, so bare with me but enjoy too! :-) Lets start from the beginning of March...

Celebrating Shantel's B-Day in AZ...

Tia Rosa's with the girls! So good to see Carly after her mission :-)

2 yr. Anniversary! We went to a to die for restaurant in SLC called Christopher's Steak House...sooo good and that steak is only half the size. Joel and I shared it, and those onion rings and were so stuffed! Best dinner ever.

Joel and Evan getting 2nd place for Golf Compete! Whoo Hoo!

My friend Kristi and I at our Hip-Hop concert...hip-hop is definitely not my thing but it was fun!

I love this poster, I just don't know where to put it in my house! But I did finally get my curtains up and put that cute figurine picture next to my side of the bed :-)

I love to thrift! But Provo's DI has very slim pickings...however I did find this cute bronze container to put our remotes on and these wall scones to put up above our bed since we can't fit a bed frame in our room :-/

Shirt: Thrifted, Boots: Birthday!

Woke up to this on my birthday! Thanks Kristi :-)

Once again thank you Kristi for the fabulous shoes (and perfume)! I love them :-)

Provo Bakery Orange Rolls = amazingness

Birthday outfit! This was taken later that night cause I forgot to take one earlier...oh well

So I am not really the one to take pictures of myself like this but I thought I would try...also to show off my hair wave. I have been working on it lately to get the perfect wave because my hair is so naturally straight and have always wanted curly hair. I think it turned out nice, what do you think?

This was earlier on my birthday and my hair is super curly...too curly for me but once it falls it is perfect!

What could Joel's present be to me...?

...An Apple T.V.! Happy day!! (P.S. I look super awk in this pic, I have had to wear my glasses for the past two weeks because of pink eye :-( ya stinky)

Sunday after my birthday we went to Gunnison to spend time with my Grandma. We climbed up to the Gunnision G! I am pretty sure though there is no college whatsoever in this little town...

Joel and I love horses! Especially when they want to eat out of your hand!

Yogurtland with Kristi and her sister Jessie. Best frozen yogurt ever!

Shopping time, bond style...

.
We bet Kristi to do this at Tocanos...very funny!

Yummy yummy yummy cake, hard to eat tho after tucanos :-/

I hate the tricky candles! The came back to life after blowing them out!

Best day and weekend ever! :-)

Oh well, I was going through my pictures and thought it would be fun to post a few videos of Joel and I over the past few months to kinda show you what we have been up too!

Joel won the ward Christmas party cookie contest! We got a whole bag of ginger cookies to share...don't know if it was worth it cause the cookies were interesting :-/

I get to play with this little guy at church each week...I want one

Haha, I love Joel's Mom in this. She was getting so competitive!

Look how strong my hubby is :-)

Boy do I miss this little guy!

Most people don't see this side of Joel, but this is what I go home to at night...and I love it! :-)

Luv you all!!

Yay for another Giveaway! :-)

Hey everyone I have another Giveaway to talk about!! I know it has been a while since I have posted on my bloggy and I promise I will do something soon of whats going on in life right now with me...which pretty much consists of school, work, church and hubby time. First however before getting into the giveaway, my husband has been quite occupied working with Thaicycles and has a really cool venue coming up! At the Velour in Provo, on Oct. 8th Thaicycles is sponsoring an awesome concert for ALLRED and two special group guests j.wride and Goodbye Nova. You'll have to check out his music and get excited because his music is incredible! Pure pure talent...anyway this concert is going to be RiDIcuLoUS! It is only $5 bucks to come for the acoustic portion of the concert at 7pm, and $10 for the full band show at 8:30pm. And what is even more great about the concert, part of the proceeds from the concert will be donated directly to Thaicycles so they can send more bikes to Thailand. (For those who don't know much about Thaicycles, my previous post talks a little bit about them :-) you can also check them out at thaicycles.com) And on top of that, there is another GivAWaY! Whoo hoo! The prize is...a brand new ALLRED CD! So here's what you do go to thaicycles facebook page, "like" them, follow the giveaway rules, enter, and wait and see if you win! Trust me people, this is a giveaway you wont want to miss, and the concert too! So go to facebook, enter the giveaway, and also come to the concert to support ALLRED and most importantly Thaicycles!

Free ITunes giveaway!

Hey everyone! So I know that I havn't been blogging really about my personal life and things going on lately, but I do have another cool thing to share! My husband and his friend started a company called "Thaicycles" last year and it has been doing really well so far. Thaicycles is geared toward helping children in Thailand recieve an education by donating bikes so they have a way of getting to school and back home. The rate at which children are dropping out of school in Thailand is high because of the time and miles it takes each child to walk there, and the lack of provided transportation. In that regards, once seven Thaicycle shirts are purchased, a brand new bike will be donated to a child in Thailand. So without any further explanation, Thaicycles is doing a free ITunes card giveaway on facebook thru the month of September and the winner will be chosen the first of October. All you have to do is...

1."Like" their facebook page
2. "Invite" 10 or more friends to join and
3. "Post" the name of your favorite elementary school teacher.

http://www.facbook.com/ThaiCycles
http://www.ThaiCycles.com

It is as easy as that and you could be one step closer to getting a $20 ITunes card! So anyway go on over to facebook and enter to win! :-) Good luck!
